My Summer Wardrobe Favourites!!

Now that summer is well and truly here. I felt that a summer wardrobe favourites post was only right!! Summer has always been my favourite season for fashion and just life in general. British summer is a bit hit and miss when it comes to the weather; there can be a day where it is 30 degrees upward and some where it's 17 or lower so this post will be varied for different temperatures.

Luckily for us fashionistas, there have been lots and lots of brilliant sales during lockdown and I have very much taken advantage of that!! I have been getting summer fashion inspiration from magazines and influencers this season as the stores aren't open.

I will discuss the favourite and an example of how I would style it and where you can find the items I show you.

So without further ado...

Jexica Mini Dress in Mint (Princess Polly):

I purchased this dress at the start of the summer and when I tried it on I knew I would be reaching for it a lot. Dresses like this come back every single year, they are never 'out' of fashion so it is definitely an essential. We have also seen this kind of neckline a lot already this year and I have many items with a similar one. The colour is a beautiful mint green - perfect for summer. The dress is very short, but can be pulled off for summer!! I have paired it will a Zara green bandeau top as the neckline cuts down very low. But this kind of dress is a definite necessity on the warmer days!! I paired it with some flat sandals and some dainty hoop earrings, however, some cowboy boots could look very chic and they have been seen a lot in the last few years.

Gingham Check Top (Zara):

I bought this top recently in the Zara sale and I think any kind of check (in this instance gingham) comes back every year and even throughout the year, so it is a great print to have in your wardrobe. This top I think could be worn in any season depending on the weather and I love it! The neckline is very feminine as well as the cuffs. I decided to pair it with plain black mom jeans and black high heel boots and a brown Coach bag. It could also go with a skirt on warmer days. This kind of silhouette of top has been cropping up everywhere recently so I simply had to jump on board.

Imagination Striped Button Front Crop Top (Minga London):

This next wardrobe favourite is so colourful and bright it is simply perfect for the summer months. With it being long sleeve it can be worn on those colder days. Minga is brilliant for their vibrant colours and I can't get enough!! I have put it will some blue ripped mom jeans and a green Mango bag, some multicoloured hair clips from Asos and some red shades for a very colourful, vibrant summer look.

Satin Red Mini Dress (Boohoo):

This dress is also a favourite of mine for this season because it is such a thin flowing satin. This could be worn on the colder days with a long sleeve top, tights and boots as I did, or with a short sleeve shirt under and some sandals for a warmer day. It is so versatile and a beautiful animal print and vibrant red. I mean who can go wrong with a bit of red?

Vicky Gingham Puff Sleeve Top (Minga London):

I purchased this top recently and have only worn it a few times, but its safe to say that I am in love. This kind of neckline is perfect and the puff sleeve give it a very feminine feel. I think my favourite colour this summer is this kind of lilac purple, I can't get enough! I paired it with some jeans and mules, but I'm sure I will wear it in a more dressed up look before the summer is out.

Cosmo Crop (The Ragged Priest):

Another one of my new loves for this summer is this mesh type of top, I have been expending my collection of this kind of top and this Ragged Priest addition is 100% my favourite so far. With this cloud print it is a very summery look and with some shorts or a skirt it would be the perfect girly summer look. I paired it with some reworked denim jeans and my pink Guess belt for a very soft girly fit.

Pleated Dress (Zara):

I bought this one recently in the Zara sale. I loved it so much I got it in the other colour as well!! I think the plunge is just the right amount without it being too revealing and this tiger print is different to other animal prints I've seen online. it is a thin kind of ribbed material so great for summer or with tights and boots for the winter. I also absolutely love the balloon sleeves and it is very cooling which is fab!!

Whip Pant (The Ragged Priest):

Now, these trousers are one of my favourite things I have bought recently. I just think they fit so well and the fact that they are a thin material and cropped gives them a very summery vibe. As I said before, this lilac purple is my absolute favourite colour at the moment and this look is no exception. I would never have thought to put yellow and purple together, but in this fit it works so well and I'm absolutely in love with this outfit. I think I will be living in it!!

Black Polka Dot Print Strappy Scuba Shift Dress (PrettyLittleThing):

I think a dress like this is a complete summer wardrobe essential as it's just a classic. Also, polka dots are always in!! I paired it with a white top underneath and some white Converse. However, you could wear it without the top as it's not too revealing.

Miss Sunshine Striped Crop Top (Minga London):

Another Minga London instalment!! This is perfect for the very warm days in the summer. The colours are beautifully vibrant and its not too cropped but a nice amount. I paired it with some distressed denim shorts, but there are some many possibilities with this one.

Flux Dress (The Ragged Priest):

This next one is something I wouldn't really buy as I wear so many bright cheerful colours. However, I couldn't help myself. It was so different to anything I'd seen anywhere; I was intrigued. The huge puff sleeves and the ties at the sides paired together create a very fresh look and I've been wearing this a lot with trainers for a casual fit. I love it.

So we have come to the end of this instalment of my blog. I absolutely love summer so I though I simply have to share my summer faves this year. I'm getting into the swing of things with my blogging now and I have a lot of ideas for posts this summer so let me know what you would like to see at some point. I'm very active on Instagram @insidegemmascloset

Thanks for reading.
